What is the best scope model to use with the Trilase?
The best choice for a scope would be a scope that has the fine duplex or MOA reticle and high quality optics since this makes viewing the laser patterns clearest.
Unfortunately, at the moment only a 1 inch or 25.4mm Trilase model is available, limiting the scopes that can be used. Many one inch scopes could be used and Beamtek recommends fine duplex 4-12 x 40 zoom scope with front adjustable objective up to 40mm. A good specific model would be the Bushnell Banner 4-12 x 40 AO Multi-X 614124 which is a quality scope. Also, the Hawke Vantage 4-12×40 AO 30/30 Duplex 14140 is a good scope that can be used with the Trilase.
Even an ‘altered for air gun use’ fixed parallax scope with objective lens up to 50mm such as a 3-9 x 50 or 4-12 x 50 can be used effectively. Many older, high end scopes in 25.4mm can also be used well with the Trilase if they feature high quality glass.
Most modern scopes with side parallax adjustment can function well with the Trilase. The 6-18 x 50 MOA Bushnell Engage is a good example.
Why use three lasers, why not just use one laser?
Using three lasers is in more than one way better than using one laser for use with ballistics. This is because scope setups in practice often experience some parallax error, even if the user is unaware of it. This is especially true if the scope is not dialed in to the correct range and if the ocular adjustment is not exactly right. This error will cause the image to move out of alignment with the reticle if the user is not looking through the center of the scope, which is not always easy to be sure of and can cause inaccuracy. So there is often some uncertainty to the exact position of a single laser dot compared with the reticle. However, with three lasers this problem never occurs because the laser dots are referenced to other lasers that are fixed beams and are not compared to the reticle. Therefore the triple laser beam positions are unaffected by scope parallax error. Three lasers also provides a clearer perception of change in distance than one laser, this is because changes in distance produce an easily perceptible change in size of the laser pattern produced on the terrain. Whereas one laser can only be viewed in reference to the position on the reticle, which is slower, less precise, subject to scope parallax error and changes in magnification adjustment. For example it is easy to see the difference between a laser pattern the size of a 20 pence piece and a single dot through quality optics. However, an equivalent difference in laser position would be imperceptible with a single laser and a scope combination. This may sound complicated but it is simple to experience in practice. Also the center of the triple laser pattern is the line of sight of the scope which is a very useful reference and the Maximum Ordinate of the pellet flight is known on activation of the device. In common parlance; three lasers are quicker to use and more precise than one laser.
Can the Trilase be used for aiming?
The Trilase is not for aiming and is certainly not a toy, it should be used correctly; for a few seconds for trajectory compensation, prior to deactivating the lasers and aiming a rifle with the rifle scope.
Can the lasers be used with airsoft?
No, the Trilase is not a toy, and should be only be used when attached to rifles and when observing proper laser safety.
Can the Trilase be used with any scope and air rifle combination?
Not necessarily. The Trilase is designed and tested to work with low recoil PCP Air Rifles. It may or may not work with a spring air rifle. Also, the Trilase itself may interfere with the operation of the air rifle magazine if it protrudes from the rail or the loading mechanism. It is up to the user to plan and determine if the Trilase is suitable for the rifle setup.
Can Beamtek ship to countries other than the UK?
Yes, depending on the shipping location and the local laws. If applicable, shipping and sales can be arranged to customers privately, please contact us at sales@beamtek.co.uk.
Does Beamtek do returns or refunds?
Not currently, if the product has been opened, then it is no longer new and could have been damaged. So a full refund would not be applicable. The product is a top of the range product so any fault should be uncommon and a repair service is available at a cost.
£3 of every sale will unconditionally be donated to WWF. This is to show Beamtek’s commitment to preventing illegal poaching of endangered species of animals.
